We are proud to report that, in 2024, Accomplish’s Nurturing the Future project has continued to make strong progress, having now planted 8,000 trees!
Since July 2021, we have donated a proportion of our income to planting trees in honour of our clients so that our relationships can grow alongside their trees.
But where did we plant, and why?
Our latest milestone: 8,000 trees
This year, guided by the amazing people at One Tree Planted, we planted trees wherever they will create the greatest positive impact, like reviving landscapes, protecting endangered species, and supporting local communities.
In the Americas, our trees restored long-leaf pine ecosystems across the southeast of the US from Texas to Georgia, protecting the habitats of endangered species like the Louisiana pine snake and red-cockaded woodpecker. We planted trees in Mexico to restore vital nesting habitats for Monarch butterflies. And in Guatemala, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, our trees helped to protect soil, improve food security, and provide jobs for local communities.
In EMEA, we marked Accomplish’s 5th birthday by planting trees in the UK’s National Forest and supported other reforestation projects in Romania, Malawi, Turkey, and Armenia – replacing areas lost to fire, benefiting watersheds, and supporting local farmers.
And in Apac, our trees supported indigenous communities in the Philippines by restoring lands that had been lost to industrial practices and landslides. Restoring these forests is now protecting habitats for species like eagles, owls, and flying foxes. While in Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, our trees helped local communities creating sustainable farming practices that we hope will provide benefits for generations to come.
Our next milestone: 15,000 trees
As Sean, Jon, and I look to the future, we are excited about the next milestone we have set for the project: 15,000 trees. Not only does this initiative help us balance the needs of the present and the future (just as our investment management clients do with the assets they manage), but it also creates opportunities for us to research and choose new reforestation projects around the world, and to celebrate each time we get to update the tree counter on our communities page!
Our trees may be a drop in the ocean, but they are *our drop*. So, here’s to many more!
